CELTIC SPIRITUALITY TOUR OF A LIFETIME!
Experience
the trip of a lifetime! Join the 2008 Celtic Spirituality Tour of
Ireland with Maria Forde. Maria will share her knowledge and love
of Ireland and give you a unique view of the people and
country.
Maria is a
gifted singer and songwriter who can captivate an audience with her
beautiful voice and lyrics. As well as experiencing local
Irish music in
the
pubs and towns, you will be treated to Maria's singing while you
travel across Ireland, visiting monasteries, abbeys, the home of
Catherine Mc Auley, founder of the Mercy Order and Edmund Rice,
founder of the Christian Brothers and Neolithic and Iron Age
sites. You will also experience the natural beauty of the land,
while learning about the history of the people.
The 2005 and 2007 Celtic Spirituality tours of Ireland were a
great success as can been seen from these quotes from the
participants:
"If someone
thought about what a Celtic Spirituality tour was they would maybe
expect that you were only going to those places of sort of
historical Celtic significance, but we also went to many other
beautiful natural places which I think was fantastic. But you can
then say you can sense the Celtic spirituality in those places too,
because Celtic spirituality is based on seeing God in
everything."

"What Maria
was offering is what everyone was looking for in visiting Ireland,
and visiting the history and finding their roots etc. And that was
influenced a lot by Maria in the first place, and also by the way
she conducted the tour throughout and included people and made it
an interesting tour by that."
"Well I
think she's an incredibly amazing person, and as each day of the
fortnight evolved I came to know her more and more. I can't help
but come to the end of the two weeks and be extremely impressed
with her as a person."
"I think
the fact that she, without much effort, just got to know each
person in the group individually and showed a real interest in
them, and I think that that really added a depth to the whole tour.
Her sense of humour was incredible, her portrayal and mimicking of
her ancestors was hilarious and I think you wouldn't get that if
you were just traveling around on your own."
"One other
thing that I thought was a highlight of the trip were the out of
the way places that she took us to that you would never find if you
went on your own, and you would never experience if you were in a
large tour."

"We didn't
only get the scenery we got more of the spirit of the place through
Maria's knowledge and her love of the place, through having the
music every day. There seems to be a song for every county and a
song for every event, and singing along the way and listening, that
was a lot of fun."
"Listening
to music that was in the pubs and also by the music provided by
Maria, made it certainly a highlight of the trip."

"I think
it's challenged me in a lot of ways because you see out of such
incredible hardship the things people went through, and the men of
faith, and what they were willing to go through to stand by their
faith. And some of the places that we visited they're so isolated I
think. I don't know if I could survive there and yet these people,
these men of faith, not only lived there but they produced often
beautiful things like the Book of Kells; or St Patrick himself, the
amazing things that he achieved. And so in a lot of ways it's
challenged me to think more deeply perhaps about my
faith."
"Every day
was something new and different and special and it was really
enriched by travelling with a group of people who had that common
link, and the music thrown in, the friendships, and still time to
have our own space. Lots of lovely walks by ourselves, or with the
group, or by your self - there were lots of choices built
in."
